Sorry if this is old news to some of you, but I figured I’d post the recap of our 2010 Indiana Predator Challenge event. The IPC is the most popular and widely contested predator hunt in the Midwest.

Please take a moment to check out our newly improved website at www.IndianaPredatorChallenge.com for more stories & photos. Once again, thanks to everyone who participated, sponsored or helped organize this Sixth Annual event.

------------------------------------
The 2010 Indiana Predator Challenge is now complete!
Friday's check-in was a rainy and cold start to the 6th Annual IPC. With temperatures hovering in the high 30's and rainfall totals pushing 3/4" several teams chose to settle into their warm & dry lodging facilities and wait for the weather to break. Six hours into the event the rain turned to snow and teams scrambled into the darkness in search of predators.

Winds were high and temperatures were low on Friday night, coyotes were spotted by numerous teams but only the "PredatorX" crew put one in the truck before sunrise. Saturday morning displayed a fresh 3 inches of snow and hunters were anxious to crank out some stands with improved visibility in the hardwoods! The "Coyote Uglies" collected one coyote before Saturday's check-in while several others picked up empty brass after missing numerous opportunities.

Saturday's festivities included some great food and good camaraderie! Hunters enjoyed the afternoon getting warm and filling up on various Cajun cuisines and sweet snacks. The Indiana Predator Challenge Rifle Contest impressed crowds once again with a tough course for shooters and entertaining views for onlookers. Shane Antsinger of “PredatorX” dominated the course by dropping 5 of 5 targets, a feat no other shooter could match. Shane’s 2 point pickup would put his team in the lead with 3 points.
Despite cold temperatures and slick roadways the hunting conditions were great on Saturday evening. Several teams found coyotes charging the call but struggled to connect, only the Howlers got one down before dark. With cooperative weather, most teams broke out their gear and hunted well into the night. Participating in their first ever Indiana Predator Challenge, the “Lights Out” crew managed to collect a beautiful Red Fox near the stroke of Midnight. This 2 point shot collection would put the rookie team in Second Place with 10 hours of hunting left.

Sunday morning brought temperatures hovering around 14 degrees with wind chills in the single digits. Each team pushed stand after stand, knowing the right setup could put them in contention. The “Jocko’s” put some points on the board with a nice coyote in the early morning. “PredatorX” padded their lead when a hard-charging howler came over the hill with moments of hunting time left.

In the end over half of the teams had points on the board but “PredatorX” controlled the event from start to finish with coyotes on Friday & Sunday and the Rifle Contest on Saturday. The new guys that called themselves “Lights Out” had hunted hard all weekend and that one Midnight Red Fox put them on the leader board!

We’d like to extend a big Thank You to all of the hunters that participated in this great 2010 Indiana Predator Challenge event. Equally important: thank you to all of the organizers, volunteers and supportive sponsors that made this great hunt possible! The planning for our next event has already begun so mark your calendars for July 15ths registration opening We will be holding another registration campout this weekend on July 16th & 17th along with some fun fishing & shooting activities. Plan on bringing the family out for some good times, great people and get your team registered for the 2011 IPC.
