I am a HS football coach and since football season and deer season overlap, I had taken about 15+ years off from big game hunting. COVID shut down our fall season so I bought a deer tag for the first time in a long time to go out with my Dad a few times. We didn't hit it too hard since he is 76. It was more about spending time with him.
My bucket list has always included calling in a cougar and I had just started looking into this when I became a head football coach and didn't have time to pursue it.
This December I called in my first cougar and was fortunate to tag it on a solo hunt. A few days later, I went out with a buddy and his son and called in another one. Since my tag was filled, I whistled to his son to look where I was looking and he filled his tag.
I can't wait until the next season begins so I can get a new tag. I can't stop thinking about cougar hunting. I'm afraid I might have a new addiction!
