I am a HS football coach and since football season and deer season overlap, I had taken about 15+ years off from big game hunting. COVID shut down our fall season so I bought a deer tag for the first time in a long time to go out with my Dad a few times. We didn't hit it too hard since he is 76. It was more about spending time with him.

My bucket list has always included calling in a cougar and I had just started looking into this when I became a head football coach and didn't have time to pursue it.

This December I called in my first cougar and was fortunate to tag it on a solo hunt. A few days later, I went out with a buddy and his son and called in another one. Since my tag was filled, I whistled to his son to look where I was looking and he filled his tag.

I can't wait until the next season begins so I can get a new tag. I can't stop thinking about cougar hunting. I'm afraid I might have a new addiction!

If anyone is afraid of anything, it should be the local cat population!

Congratulations on your new addiction.

Thank you all. Hassell, I was born in Kamloops, B.C., and lived in Canada until I was 16. Killed a few black bears on Vancouver Island many years ago, and a few blacktails in various parts of the province. You are fortunate to live in a hunter's mecca!

I sure wish Washington State still allowed for 2 cougar tags.

Welcome to PT. Congrats on the cougar !

                          Tree Branch Calls

Never kick a dead coyote, especially one that ain't dead when your gun is still in the kitchen. Just ask your favorite Yooper what will happen. But if its a bobcat in a 330 coni and you think he's dead,,,,,Think again.. And we know you were wearing less than your PJ's on the last one you shot !

20 years ago we had Johnny Cash, Bob Hope and Steve Jobs. Now we have no Cash, no Hope and no Jobs. Please God, don't take Kevin Bacon !

If you want to be successful, Be like a postage stamp, Stick to it until you get there
