Man I am getting ready to start to trap and got my traps and bait today. I will give a shout out to Hoosier Traping supply. I ordered yesterday got my stuff today. Will clean and dye, wax and get ready to start my trap line. Just 6 traps to start. Just learning.

Should I dye them with heat? I have read both ways but whats better?

I usually clean them and then allow them to rust a bit and then use logwood dye. My buddy uses the dips. Both of us have had decent luck either way will be fine. I think the dips need some airing time.

I ran them thru the dishwasher and they are outside to get a little rusty. Was going to dye them tomorrow after I hunt. I have a turkey fryer and an old pot. I would guess the dye will dye anything and not come out. I will let them dry and then wax them.

  I'm old fashion and prefer boiling them with logwood and yes that will stain just about everything.....................

I have the dye. But the were new so the best way get the oil off was dishwasher.

my wife would have my a$$ for doing that......... :fryingpan: lol

 

I always went to a car wash and used the engine degreaser cycle then lots of rinsing

 Just make sure they're on the opposite side of the wine glasses !!

I am all ready to start. That darn rain sure makes it muddy to walk in the field. Hope to put them out this week.
