First red of the year!

Happy New Year everyone.

Got this year off to a good start with this red. Only did two sets this afternoon at a small property in North NJ. The first set I ran the caller and decoy for about 28 mins using Cotton tail distress, baby cotton tall distress off and on for different periods of time. Nothing was showing interest.

Second set I went over the large corn field that butts up to the woods and put the Fox Pro Jack Attack decoy out with the caller and it wasnt more than 3 mins of kitten distress that this red was in an all out run toward me. First spotted at 245 yards I waited for him to clear the brush along the side of the corn field and get into the clearing. Shot at 139 yards right between the eyes while in a slow walk. Unfortunately the face was pretty messed up I guess that is what happens with this 22-250...

With the crazy wind today I had to set up with the wind to my back to get the best view of the whole field.

Thanks guys. I'm out of town on business now but when I get back I'm hitting them hard? Season runs until March in NJ.

Been lurking in the site for a while now buy finally made a name and started to share! Already learned a lot just by reading!
