There are 2 types of mange, Demodectic mange is not generally contagious to people, other animals, or even other dogs . Demodectic mange in dogs is caused by a sensitivity to and overpopulation of them. The dog's immune system is unable to keep the mites in check.
Been getting alot of reports on the mange with both fox and coyote by the neighbors accounts in my area. I'm just south of Lansing Michigan. I haven't personally seen any with it but the wife has.
I know a guy that reported catching 59 yotes earlier this season before the first of the year. All these were taken west of Ann Arbor. He never report one having mange.
Wow,that's impressive. I've shot 3 with beautiful fur right around here. The wife has seen 2 different yotes in stages of mange and next door neighbor shot a fox with almost no hair on it. Don't know what's going on around here but hopefully goes away soon. Heck of a way to die too.
Correct me if I am wrong. But a mature female fox like that, if carrying the mite that causes mange would also be passing it onto her kits ? And do the Teets on a mom hang like that on a domestic dog ? I have never shot a fox that was nursing.
