Oh yeah I got you. I’ve actually been saving them for that reason but they are in a box vs a bag. They are in my home though so low humidity environment. Thanks for the info.

Well came close last night and had a bunch of excitement. So a big dog came close to the bait pile at 12:10am then a coyote followed about 10 minutes later. This is where it gets interesting. The coyote stayed in the woods raising cane then the bigger dog went after him. The yote apparently didn’t go far and stood his ground. They both barked like mad at each other. No growling just very aggressive barking. This went on like for 20 minutes then went quiet. Unfortunately, they both stayed in the woods so no shots available. I did hit my caller a few times with a den raid call sequence followed with aggressive barking. They didn’t even act like they heard it though. Lol

Just nailed this one at fairly close range. 80-90 yards maybe and the Nosler 53g Varmageddon tipped bullet shut his lights off. 3rd one this year and to date my best start of season. Exciting stuff.

This tipped 53g is suppose to be Nosler’s most explosive 22cal bullet. I literally can’t see where it went in and it definitely didn’t exit. I think this might be the first one I’ve shot where there hasn’t been a exit hole. Also first yote I’ve shoot with this round. The ballistic tips have all done a excellent job but do tend to exit. Next up I’m going to try their 62g hollow point Varmageddon loads.

The 62g did very well. I only shot two groups of three but both groups were around a inch or so. But it was a little breezy that day and my gun really needed a good cleaning so I think I might could squeeze a little more out of them.

The 53g I’m not sure yet. I knew my shots tonight would be under 125 yards so figured I wouldn’t have a problem hitting a yote. I will try them on paper this weekend just to see and post back.

In daylight. No evidence of entry or exit. First picture shows entry after peeling hair back. Complete termination inside body cavity. It did hit bone though so maybe soft tissue hit will perform differently.

So tested the 53 grain Varmageddon‘s today and honestly they shoot about the same as the 55g ballistic tips and 62g flat base Varmageddon‘s. See attached picture. The first two shots (most upper two) almost hit the hand-warmer so I moved 2 clicks down so hopefully wouldn’t hit it. As you can see that’s about a .75” group which is pretty good when trying to use Thermal optics. To really see what these loads can do a glass optic would be a far better choice. Either way all three loads seem to average roughly .75- 1 inch groups and appear to stay very consistent.

I’m going to shoot a few more yotes with this 53g just to see if it continues to dispatch them quicker due to its explosive nature. Will post back once I have more results.

Found a fresh road kill deer today and freshen up the bait pill. Also added some canine force scent to the pile for added attraction. Hope to try out that 53g Varmageddon again tonight.

I’ve told people for years that Noslers are the ticket to clean one shot no exit kills. I’ve shot coyotes from a lot of angles and never had an exit in 224 or 243. I did have an exit on a 204 cal 40gr on a fox once. It nearly cut him in half.

Well I think your correct. Another fairly explosive bullet is the Hornady Vmax but they do exit on most shots. They seem to be slightly more fragile than say a Nosler ballistic tip. Ive shot several yotes with Vmax bullets and while they perform well they are definitely not as explosive as these bullets. So far I’m super impressed with the Varmageddon tipped bullets for predators and quick kills.

I shoot Noslers in 204, 223, 22-250, and 243 in every caliber they are as or more accurate than Hornady, Sierra, Berger, Speer. 35gr Bergers perform really well in the 204 as do the 39 gr sierras. The Hornady 32 gr work well on prairie dogs but terminal performance is pretty much a moot point as any hit does the job. They
( 32gr) should never be used on coyotes IMO, they aren’t heavy enough to break through bone if you should hit it.

So I’m not happy that Pulsar stopped offering the recoil activated video on the new Thermion 2 Pro’s because I keep forgetting to turn it on

Last night I dropped a Yote at roughly 200 yards. I heard one barking and went toward it quickly to call. But my heart rate was up so much I came off the trigger three times trying to settle down. Lol

Quartering toward shot dropped in tracks again no exit.
