While hunting with my brother in West TX it was a windy night and I noticed the cord from the spot light was dragging on the chair making more noise than a busted chainsaw. After i fixed the problem we started to see more sets of eyes coming in. A coyote can hear a mouse at 300 yrds so try to be as quiet as possible.

I actually make and sell coil cord covers along with other predator hunting products including spotlight halo shields.. The cord covers I make are made from a fleece material and attach on one end with a zip-tie. The cord can still stretch a normal just no noise.. I charge $7.00 for these if anyone is interested.. Shipping is free for the Month of March..

Also includes even whispering too loud! Predators can hear far better than a human and talking on a set is a huge mistake that can and will cost ya! There are only a hand full of situations that will warrant talking on a set and thats to say bust him orif it is super windy and you just have to say something to your partner thats critical to the stand. Just about everything else is just a result of not getting a game plan together ahead of time forcing you to do too much talking while an animal is approaching the call. Work out the details ahead of time to minimize the amount of confusion between each other when it's game time. I have seen numerous guys start to get excited when they see a predator coming and they usually have a tendency to want to say something like "rite there, rite there" or "there he is, there he is" and inevitably it has put several predators on alert as a result. There is nothing worse than to have confusion and a bunch of racket going on during a stand because no one knows what everyone else is supposed to do including yourself. Take 5 minutes before you head out to make a call and get a strategy together to iliminate this problem and you will greatly increase your odds. Chris

Great points from everyone. After my first time out night hunting, I am surprised by the amount of noise that some guys consider acceptable. I know these animals can hear us WAY out, but we're banging and clanging around?!?! Can't be good.....

It never fails. I will talk it all out before we head to the first stand and someone does the first thing you told them not to do. Goes back to the great old door slam! Some just cant help themselfs. I'm very a d d but when to go hunting I'm wired backwards thank goodness. Great tips!

I just assume those first 2 stands are test runs... a chance for us to work out the "kinks". They might as well be made in the Walmart parking lot. :roflmao:
