i called in a mountain lion today.
it came in vary vocal
it would make two sounds like RRROUGH RRROUGH then a cough sounding sound
it was sooo cool
the season in that area has met its quota and the season is closed.
the cat did the cough sound the whole time he was in the area and even when he was across the ridge.
has anyone ever heard this sound?
what does it mean?
i used a tally ho making coyote agressive challenges and a little green reaper making a cotton tail in distress.
i'm pretty sure he was trying to run off my rizzo coyote decoy.
so i guess the main question is "has anyone had this happen and heard this?"

I had the same thing happen with a lynx about two weeks ago, this is my first year and that has been the only thing we have gotten in responce to the call. We were trying to figure it out also. The sound came from a steep imbankment which is covered with willow and alders plus deep snow. We never saw it but we both heard the sound.

Lions usally make that sound when they feel threatened or annoyed
If you run you'll only die tired
