FXHTR, I had just as soon shoot a hog as a Coyote we are startng to see some here where we have never had them. If you ever are up around McComb or Brookhaven I would like toget together with ya and make a hunt the Homochitto National Forest is just a few miles from here its 89000 acres just begging to be hunted. I get out there as often as I Can.
My dad was born in Brookhaven and his haunt was McComb. Going to be laid off in about 3~4 weeks maybe I can make a trip over and bring my scattergun for some brush hunting, dont think a rifle will be too useful unless we can find some clear cuts/ fields or plots-- and get up in some portable tree stands. Are treestands allowed there for coyote hunting? Im in west Mobile.

Going to be laid off probably this Friday, a big day for me as I've been on the road 4 1/2 years with practically no time going home, except for a week every 3 to 4 months. Looking forward to some me time I'll PM you when I get the honey do's done and set a date and we can go from there. Also let me know what size shot you would recommend for a scattergun, as well as whats legal size shot for yotes--if they even have any regs pursuant to that.

Will Do Man! I mostly hunt my own land or my kinfolks land. You can get the price for license and the regulations at MDWFP ( Mississippi Dept of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks ) Website, as well as purchase a license.

Ok will check it out and I just sent an email to Alabama DNR and asked lots of questions. They allow any size shot for yotes ( if shotgunning) also rifles and daytime hunting only, and ecalls are allowed only for yotes but no other hunted animals. I sent another to be sure on the hunter orange just to make sure Im legal as a technicality can still get you a fine. No response on that question yet as I asked after the initial inquiry.

I think if I read right thats it falls under a small game license, which for non res is 75 for a year. Im not sure when the date starts the year but Im thinking its about over this year which means Ill pay the 75 for a short period as the "new" season is just around the corner. I wrote DNR (MS) on specific questions ie..hunting from a treestand for yotes and #4 buckshot as well and which license is the correct one for yotes. Also about the requirements for hunter orange outside of the regular deer seasons as well as during the deer seasons--as we all know orange isnt in yote hunting. So maybe in the next 3 ~4 days Ill get an answer. PS...didnt get laid off, but was told maybe this coming friday. I think theyre afraid of all of us laying down on them the last few days vs just being honest and giving a date in concrete. Either way more money to squirrel away! Will let you know when Im "free" (includes after the honey-do's) so you can let me know a time you are off as well. Hopefully we can do it during the week vs weekend so we can have time with the families during their time off on the weekends as well. Let me know what you think and if youre only off during weekends then thats fine as well.
