I own a Savage 110E in .243 (pre-AccuTrigger) which I've had for some time now and have never shot. Thinking of making it a backup 'yote gun, or something the boy can take out with us which would also double as a deer rifle at some point.
In .243 the V-Max is available in 58, 65, 75, and 87 grain weights. With a 1:10" twist rate, what would you guys recommend for a flat-shooting, fur-friendly bullet weight? I'm not particularly looking for the absolute fastest velocity attainable, just a good, effective round while keeping holdover at a minimum out to 250+ yards.

Thanks in advance.

I recommend you try all of them and use the one that shoots best in YOUR gun.

I don't know how fur friendly it is, don't care, but I am currently loading the 75 gr. for my .243. Very accurate, shot a sub MOA 3 shot group @ 100 yds.

Fred gives good advice...what ever shoots good in your gun..You shouldn't have any trouble with any of them stabilizing with a 1-10 twist and if your rifle is sighted in properly your holdover should be minimal or less lol
