Hey all,

Anyone from Iowa on here and have any luck or see any bobcats this season? Being from Northern Iowa, I can't hunt bobcat since it is only allowed in the Southern Iowa counties. I was just curious if these things were even likely to be found around here. Thanks.

Being originally from Iowa, and spending 17 years in southern Iowa, I would think you should have them In the northern areas. What county are you in? I also have freinds that have taken their cat for this season. Back in the late 70's and early 80's we were catching a few while trapping, but back then we had to release them if they were unharmed. If they were hurt we had to contact Fish & Game Dept. to come and get the cat.

Back then I also traveled to the Decorah area 3 to 4 times a year to fish the trout streams and I would see track and scat along the streams.

Good to have another Iowan on the site.

Thanks for the reply. I'm from Cerro Gordo county. It's unfortunate that we can't hunt them up here. I'd love to make a trip down to the southern counties sometime and try to get one.

Yes it is. I moved from Grafton to Winterset in 1969. Winterset is the birth place of Marion Morrison( we'll see if anyone knows our cowboy history) and home to Iowa's covered bridges. I was a junior in high school. I moved to Colorado in 1985. Always wanted to be out west and when I got the chance I took it.

Out West is where I want to go too. I've traveled to Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, and Arizona before and in my personal opinion, nothing compares to it. Absolutely beautiful.
