Welcome whackabuck. There are a few members from Illinois in here as well.

I was hoping to get out today but the wind is 25-30mph. i'll just get things done around the house.

I just got some new land to hunt on (cattle farm). What are the things I need to look for as a starting point?

Coyotes ! It's hard to kill them if they ain't there . Look for sign, usual wind direction, and good stand location/s. Use caution to not spread your scent all over the area when scouting.

I went out thismorning deer hunting, it was 15degrees and 30mph wind and i didnt see a single deer! Where do you hunt in galena? I hunt near hanover in jodaviess. There are a ton of coyotes up there. They have destroyed the turkey population and even the deer population has been decreasing. Dang coyotes!

No I dont actually hunt in Galena. Galena is me and the wifes get away destination. I would like to hunt when I go up there but I think that the wife would have my head.

Work in at the University in CU, hunt Shelbyville, live in Arthur. I have been "hunting" coyotes the last two years, but really getting into it this year. Always looking for another place to hunt.
