welcome ranger,

have you checked out the State Wildlife Areas? There are several in the area.

http://wildlife.state.co.us

Go to land section and the SWA.

Also, Colorado has as many National Forest acrea than just about any other state. Also, National Grassland. Pawnee National Grasslands northeast of Greely has hundreds of acres, however with any National lands you need Forest Service maps to determine the public hunting areas. Starting out like you are requires a few hours of research to find hunting areas to suit your needs.

Ranger303,

Where in Colorado are you located? This state has critters everywhere but the varied terrain will require some planning. If you are in the southwest corner of the state, I can point you to a few good areas with easy walk in access.

I am still in the same boat as you. The western half of the state has tens of thousands of acres of blm land. Less regulations than many of the state run lands. Check with the blm office to get maps. And also wal mar sells a pretty useful map of Colorado.

You got that right. I gave up on the grasslands for now. Tons of land, no legit signs on what you can hunt and target practice. Ill look back into it someday haha :D
