I have been wanting to reload the new Hornady 53gr boat tail V-Max for my 22-250 and have not been able to find it in stock anywhere. I thought it was supposed to be available in January. Have any of you seen it available yet? Thanks, Paul

That is the newly designed bullet with the longer ogive meant for the .223. You may find that you have to seat the bullet to deep, and rob yourself of needed powder space when using in the 22-250. Good luck and keep us posted if and when you find them.

Right, the redesign is why I am interested. The ballistic coefficient is .290. The bc of the 52 grain A-Max is .247, and it was engineered to be the real paper puncher. Now to find the bullets so I can start the grand experiment.

Paul, +2 on the higher BC of that new design. You might check Sportsman's Warehouse, ours has them.

Thanks for the heads up Ebbs. The last time I checked the Sportsman's Warehouse here was just over a week ago. Looks like I am off to look today.

I just checked our Sportsman's Warehouse and they don't have them. Are you sure they are the new 53 grain boattail V-Max?

Thanks, Paul

Yep positive. I'll probably be out that way this week sometime so I'll take a peek in and check. If they're out I'll ask the hunting dept. manager what's up.

Their website lists 52gr a-max and 53gr hp Match but no 53gr v-max. I'm sure that they just haven't listed them yet. I've found that most companies are a bit lax in getting things listed.

Not a problem. PM me your cell and I'll shoot you a text when I'm there if they have them. Otherwise I'll post a sad face ( :D ) on here.

Midway had them, but now gone, gone ,gone.... http://www.midwayusa...ctNumber=356967

No B.C. mentioned, recommended for a 1:12 twist, same ogive as the 75gr V-Max

I shoot the .223 with a 1/9 twist barrel and regulary use matchkings with a higher B.C. and they shoot great, as well as Noslers in 69 gr and 75 gr. and they shoot great. hope that helps.
