Had an awesome morning! Just talked to a yesterday about doing some predator hunting on his farm. Well, its a very nice place. Did a little scouting yesterday. Lots of hills and steep little hollers.
So i set out the new MoJo pecker, and started calling. After about 25 mins, some birds to the left of me were goin nuts. I could here something coming, but i could not tell the direction for sure with my face mask covering my ears. While looking out the corner of my eye trying to find the mute button on the FP. I look and out pops the first cat about 30 yards. So moving slowly, i set the remote in my lap, and look towards the decoy and another cat was about 3 yards from the FP. I could tell the cat closest to me was there bigger one of the two. So she ate a dirt samitch right off the get go. Well im shooting a T/C encore.(22-250, ding dong here decided to leave the shotgun in the truck this morning). Try pulling a bullet out with gloves on and reloading while this other cat is getting the heck out of dodge. I managed somehow to get another load in, and by this time the cat is out there about 150. The T/C catches up pretty quick, but i wasnt sure if i made the shot or not. Never thought i would strike a double cat. Im pretty excited......

I started out with a Raspy Woodpecker, call for about 3 or 4 mins at a time, then wait about 30 seconds and go again. Switched to a wail-n-woodpecker, at about 20 mins, the about 5 mins later is when the dirt samitches started getting passed out! Yes Im pumped!!!!! Thank you!

THIS. IS. EPIC!!!!! I'm heading out this afternoon and you got me even more pumped!

Also, NICE shooting. Those little suckers are small targets to begin with, but on the run? I'm impressed and that doesn't happen easily!

Your the man of the hour !

Great going ! I am still thinking of setting up my TC encore in a 22-250 or a .234. I have other rifles to use so I am in no real hurry.

I am guessing you like your 22-250. Would you set it up again in that cal. ?

Congrats again ! And good shooting !!!

Yes and No. I would like a .204, the second cat, witch was the smaller, and longest shot got tore up pretty bad! Thats the only beef i have with it. The bigger cat just had a pen hole. But like i said in another thread, Shot placement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That would be my problem too...tearing them up. My .222 mag is great it hits hard but not so hard that is explodes. The down side is that its limited to 300 yards..not bad when you are shooting closer..but when you need to shoot across a field, well you know.

I have been reading about the .204 perhaps it is a better choice.

Thanks

Im looking at maybe a sps in .223 with the heavy barrel. My wife has a really nice, Ruger .223 but its SS and I really dont want to paint it, lol Plus she would scalp me if i did that..... So i may just see what i can do with that, they are so much cheaper to shoot then the 204. I have been working on a load for the 22-250, and I may even yet, cut down the speed, and start looking for a bullet with less expansion. I dont know, to many choices.

I don't want to spoil things for Mr. Miller but I'm sure he'll be posting some more of the fun he's been having today. I spent an hour out calling this afternoon with no luck. I started a little too early in the evening I think, plus the 8 degree temps I was sitting in probably weren't that motivating.

8 degrees wow...where were you ? It was in the upper 30's here but it is changing for a cool down.

And now you guys have me thinking too much...204, 243, 22-250, 223. Well I have the 223 area covered with my .222 mag in a rem. 700. Now I have to decide on the hot round. I can shoot deer with the 243 so that is a reason...but is it too hot for smaller targets like yotes or cats ?

I guess I'll throw my experience in here for .223 ammo. I shoot 55 grain hornady V-max out of my gun and I was really impressed when I finally knocked one down with that thing. One shot broadside behind the front shoulder dropped him and there was no exit, and a tiny entry. I really like the gun and scope I ended up getting, really a good rig.
