To those of you that drive a routine route off the beaten path. Have you notice that more and more hogs are being hit ? Used to it wasnt uncommon to see a deer or two dead on the side of the road each day or two.
I took a job about 40ish miles from the house. I see at least one dead hog scene each week and sometimes 3 or 4 per week. ( only work 4 nights ). Sometimes its just a lone hog and others there are several at the same scene. Friday morning on my way home I noticed an 18 wheeler sitting on the side with flashers going and traffic flags out. About 300 yrds behind him there was an ol hog splattered. I guessed it about 450 pounds.
I have seen several 250's dead and lots of smaller ones. One morning I counted 7 rangeing from 75 to 250 pounds all on the same impact site. Any how on each site it looks like the vehicles have hit a full grown cow. Blood on both sides of the road and splattered about 40 yards longs.
Used to we would see deer dead on the road and now it hogs. Sure wish we could atleast some how get the hogs in check. I know its wishful thinking but we all know how much they tear up !!!
